Commons symptoms of a yeast infection
Almost every woman will experience a yeast infection during their lifetime. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, and not an indication that a woman is dirty or unkept. Yeast infections can be caused by any number of things, from wearing the wrong kind of underwear, to using a new type of bath soap.
Knowing how to recognize the symptoms of a yeast infection, can help stop the process before it gets out of hand. The longer you allow a yeast infection to linger, the worse your symptoms will become. A yeast infection will not go away by itself.
Here are the most common symptoms of yeast infection.
Vaginal itching - Vaginal itching caused by a yeast infection is severe. The itching will be focused mainly in and around the entire area of the vulva. The vulva and labia will likely become swollen, red and irritated. The itching can spread to the anus if the yeast infection isn’t cured quickly.
Vaginal discharge - The discharge that occurs from a yeast infection is typically white, and can be lumpy, or curd like, in texture. The discharge can be significant enough to cause wetness in the vaginal area, which will only make a yeast infection worse. It is important to keep the vaginal area as dry as possible during a yeast infection. Wearing white cotton panties, and a panty liner, will help make this possible
Burning or pain during urination - When you are experiencing the symptoms of a yeast infection, it may cause a burning sensation during urination. This is due to the engorgement of the vulva area, which is only irritated by urine.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important that you begin treatment at once. Several over- the-counter medications and creams are available, which will provide relief and put a stop to your symptoms.
